Content syndication platform Mochila has entered into a distribution deal with free virtual private network service AnchorFree.

Launched in late 2007, AnchorFree's Hotspot ad targeting service -- which helps Wi-Fi access providers like hotel chains, coffee shops and bookstores reduce or eliminate service fees with advertising -- presently reaches a network of about 7.5 million consumers worldwide.

AnchorFree's Hotspot Shield is a free ad-supported Virtual Private Network that guarantees privacy and security online. "Hotspot Shield now reaches a vast, global audience of tech savvy and affluent consumers," said Benjamin Chen, chairman and CEO of Mochila.

As a result of the partnership between Mochila and AnchorFree, consumers will now have access to a set of premium, regularly updated articles, photos and video through Mochila's content syndication network. The content will be packaged into themed sections, including technology, business, travel, food, automotive and weather.

Technology content, from gadget and computer reviews to news for gamers and buyers guides, will be supplied by previously announced Mochila partner IDG -- whose brands include PC World, Macworld and GamePro. Financial content will be supplied by Investor's Business Daily, a publisher of financial news geared to personal and professional investors.

The sections will be interwoven with advertising supplied by the content providers. Support for pre- and post-roll video advertising will also be available.

Hotspot Shield establishes a secure tunnel between a user's computer and Internet connection, encrypting entire Web sessions to keep IP addresses protected and the user anonymous. As a result, third-party Web sites and ISPs cannot block or censor Internet content, and therefore cannot track any information exchanged by the individual online.
